Top Three Wellbeing Articles - Week of January 29th, 2018

Each week I read a number of wellbeing articles from various online resources. Here are my top three picks from this week. I have added my comments about each article and would like to hear what you think too.

This week we focused on a theme of creativity in the workplace. Don't miss this blog "Fostering Creative Minds: Does Your Office Culture Kill Creativity at Work" or this Expert Interview with Rochelle Seltzer.

What do millennials need to tap into creativity at work. by Sarah Landrum (Forbes)

I love the simplicity of the message of this article: creativity thrives when we create opportunities for it to do so.

My comments: Such as simple message, yet so important. We have to create the opportunities for creativity to thrive and ensure we don't have barriers (cultural, physical, emotional) that get in the way of creativity. Oh, and while this may be what works for millennials, I'll be you'll find it works for all generations of workers.

Kickstart creativity in your team with this one simple brain jolt by Linda Naiman (Inc)

Kickstart creativity by asking your team to question-storm 50 questions in 15 minutes about your topic.

My comments: I'm always looking for new tricks and techniques to use in my consulting work and this is a great one. It can be applied to so many situations, it will definitely become part of my consulting toolkit. 

How to nourish your team's creativity. by Ron Carucci  (Harvard Business Review)

CEO's cite creativity as the most important skill a leader can have, but just how that is done is not clear. A leader's role is to create a working environment in which critical thinking, new ideas and creative solutions can flow unencumbered.

My comments: As with so many aspects of organization culture, it is all about creating the right conditions for the desired outcome. In this case, creativity. This is a great article with some specific suggestions on how to achieve that.
